Nonsteroidal contraceptives that are also effective against pregnancy.

Are you a woman of childbearing age, actively involved in sex but scared of the weight gain, aches, and other side effects associated with using steroids for a long time? I have got some initiatives for you below which are aimed at beating the menace of steroidal contraceptive use.

1. Fertility awareness approach: There are two approaches available under fertility awareness namely; calendar tracking and temperature tracking. For the effectiveness of both calendar and temperature tracking, you must have a regular mensural circle.

1a. Temperature tracking: In this approach, you buy a basal thermometer and it is available without a prescription. An elevated basal temperature is an indication that you are ovulating, thus unsafe.

1b. Calendater tracking: This method is deployed by people that know their circle from studying it for a couple of months to understand when is their free period.

2. Cervical cap: This is a prescription rubber device smaller than a diaphragm, it fits over the cervix like a thimble.

3. Spermicidal agents (nonoxynol-9): This composes of an inert base that immobilizes or kills sperm cells.

4. Male condoms: This is probably the first contraceptive that comes to mind the minute someone starts getting sexually active.

5. Female condoms: These are disposable nitrile health that fits into the vagina and provides protection from pregnancy and some sexually transmitted infections.

6. Diaphragm: It is a prescription device that is self-inserted into the vagina to block the access of sperm to the cervix. Most effective when used in conjunction with spermicide to seal off crevices between the vaginal wall and the device.
