To beat-up queue in our public hospitals, do you need to know anyone?

Updated: Mar 5, 2020

The state of our health system is something that we are all conversant with. The politicians, celebrities and successful businessmen who can afford the cost of medical services overseas feel unconcerned about the dilapidated state of medical system. The middle income earners use few of the good private hospitals around, while majority of the people can barely afford the public hospital.

During our hospital tour, we uncovered how difficult it is for a common man to easily access medical services in the public hospitals despite the standard of care available. It is therefore not out of place for people to claim that you need to know who knows who to have your process facilitated.

However, with the wild spreading diseases like Lassa fever and Coronavirus, it may not matter much again who you are in the society as no one is safe. There is therefore an urgent need for us to strengthen our health system in order to avoid an epidemic.
